Filled PTFE

El PTFE (Politertaflouroetileno), es un polímero termoestable considerado uno de los más versátiles dentro de los materiales plásticos, dentro de sus características más importantes está la alta resistencia a temperaturas elevadas, antiadherencia, bajo coeficiente de fricción, resistencia a agentes químicos y solventes así como sus propiedades dieléctricas además de no ser tóxico.

El PTFE por sus extraordinarias propiedades antiadherentes, resistencia a los químicos, temperaturas extremas y por tener el más bajo coeficiente de fricción respecto a cualquier sustancia sólida, le ofrece numerosas aplicaciones en todo tipo de industria, especialmente en la industria papelera, química, petrolera, eléctrica, nuclear, metalúrgica, farmacéutica, alimenticia, entre otras.

TETRAFLON® provides the following options:

  • Fiberglass

  • Graphite

  • Carbon

  • Molybdenum disulfide

  • Bronze

  • Stainless steel

We mention some of the fillers we currently have in our
production line, but we can produce parts with the ptfe filler
that the customer requires.

Fiberglass Filled PTFE

It is the most common load for seals with rotating and alternating movements. (Pneumatic use, hydraulic use, bearing, piston rings, valve seats and mechanical parts).

Main features:

  • It improves the resistance to compression and wear
  • It improves PTFE resistance to friction in high and low temperature
  • Excellent chemical stability (With the exception of strong alkalis and hydrofluoric acid)
  • When combined with Molybdenum disulfide or Graphite, thermal conductivity improves
  • It has excellent electrical properties
  • Good balance in Electrical, Mechanical and Chemical properties

Carbon Filled PTFE

It is thoroughly used in seals that require a high-pressure resistance to ware. (Piston Rings for unlubricated compressors and bearing).

Main features:

  • Excellent compression performance and wear resistance
  • Good thermal conductivity
  • Low permeability
  • It is one of the most inert loads with the exception of acidic conditions, where fiberglass performs better
  • Due to its carbon content, it becomes antistatic
  • Good performance in damp conditions

Graphite Filled PTFE

Used in dynamic seals where self-lubrication is important. (Shock absorber joints).

Main features:

  • Good thermal conductivity
  • Low coefficient of friction and low permeability.
  • Excellent wear resistance properties, especially to soft metals

Molybdenum Disulfide Filled PTFE

Used in seals where self-lubrication is important. It is usually combined with Fiberglass or Bronze. (Bearings, Seal Rings and Piston Rings).

Main features:

  • Low coefficient of friction (static)
  • Good thermal conductivity
  • Wearing resistance
  • Low impact on its electrical characteristics
  • Low reaction on chemicals
  • Good elasticity

Bronze Filled PTFE

Dynamic seals where high-wearing-compression resistance is required but chemical resistance is not important. (Compression rings, bearings and hydraulic systems)

Main features:

  • Excellent wearing and compression resistance to heavy loads and low speeds
  • Good thermal conductivity
  • When combined with Molybdenum disulfide or Graphite, it provides a good coefficient of friction
  • It is not good for electrical applications
  • It is not ideal to work with chemicals such as chlorine and some acids since it could be attacked

Stainless Steel Filled PTFE

It has a good performance when high compression and chemical resistance are needed. It works well for dynamic applications. (Seals and bearings for specific food industry machines)
